A very common problem for men is their failure at women. Men dream of going out with the woman they love, like, admire, or just simply with a beautiful lady they want to meet. The book maybe about pickup but Neil Strauss was not born a pickup artist nor an expert in dating. Although he is now considered to be a famous pickup artist, Neil Strauss is actually an American author – a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and he also writes for The New York Times.

Just like David DeAngelo, Neil Strauss was also one of the guys who couldn’t get any girls to date with. So when he came across the seduction community, he started to join online discussion groups. As he got more involved, Neil Strauss attended Mystery’s bootcamp. The bootcamp is what helped Style become a pickup artist. He learned different advice and techniques on how to approach a woman, how to respond in certain situations, and most especially how to be a real pickup artist.

All of these experiences in his journey in becoming a pickup artist were written in his book, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pick-up Artists.” From then on, he became one of the famous pickup artists in the community.

See, the famous Neil Strauss was once a failure in dating with women but he managed to become a pickup artist. You may not dream of becoming a famous pickup artist like him but you can be an expert in dating with women.

You may start by joining online communities, read and participate on discussions about pickup and seduction. That way, you will become more familiar about dating and pickup. PUAs usually give out free dating tips in their newsletters, so subscribe to them. When you’re ready, attending trainings, seminars, or a bootcamp will be more helpful.

Now that we know how these famous dating experts became who they are now, there is no reason to envy them. Instead, we should be more encouraged to develop our own skills and be an expert with women, too.

The Mystery Method is one of the most popular dating techniques today. It is developed by none other than Mystery. His book, “The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women into Bed” was written in 2007. Since then, it has become very popular that every man interested in pickup is using the technique.

The mystery method is not just a simple dating technique. It is composed of several phases: Attraction, Comfort, and Seduction. Each of these phases are divided into 3 parts:

Building emotional connection and physical connection

Each of these parts are divided into different approaches. Looks complicated? The mystery method is not that difficult as you think. But you have to be serious and eager to learn and succeed in it.

Now, because of its popularity, even women are aware of the mystery method already. Most men think that it is overused now and that it won’t be as effective as before. There is no doubt to Mystery’s skills as a pickup artist. It has been tested and proven. So it would really be nice to get something new from him.

More men prefer to learn other techniques in dating now that the mystery method is getting more publicity. Men are now shifting their attention to other pickup artists. These PUAs has developed their own pickup techniques as well.

The Cocky & Funny technique by David DeAngelo has been widely used also. Being cocky & funny works well if you use it correctly – not too cocky and not too funny. Julian Foxx and Vin DiCarlo developed a technique on Phone Game. Simple yet very effective.

With the growing popularity of the seduction community or what most people call, the pickup artist community, more men are eager to improve themselves and learn the techniques of the pickup artist. Today, there are a lot of dating experts and PUAs who help other men in dating and pickup. But it was not Mystery nor David DeAngelo who pioneered in the seduction community. It actually originated from Ross Jeffries.

Jeffries is a former comedy writer. He created the “Speed Seduction,” a Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) technique. David DeAngelo, the famous PUA and guru, was actually a student of Ross Jeffries, who was also the pickup mentor of Neil Strauss in his bestselling book, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists”.

As the seduction community was growing, each pickup artist or guru developed their own techniques. There’s the “Mystery Method” by Mystery and “Cocky & Funny” by David DeAngelo. Accronyms, terminologies and jargons in the community has also been created. For example, AFC (Average Frustrated Chump) is what they call to males who are incompetent with women.

With its rapid growth, the seduction community has also received negative feedback and comments. It has been characterized in the San Francisco Chronicle to be “a puerile cult of sexual conquest.” Feminists also reacted negatively to the whole pickup thing and think that it is offensive.

Despite the criticisms, the seduction community is still growing and becoming popular. In 2007, VH1 started the reality show, “The Pickup Artist,” with Mystery and other PUAs on it. It has even raised more awareness about the community and attracted more men to join in.

Pickup materials have also spread most especially in the internet. E-books, DVDs, CDs, trainings, seminars, bootcamps, and workshops. Online communities were formed where men share their experiences, learn from others, discuss about pickup and seduction, or sometimes boast around.

Although there can be a lot of things to be criticized in the seduction community, fact still remains that it has helped a lot of men especially the “AFCs”. It has helped them develop social skills and gain self-confidence.

The things that the pickup artists and gurus teach to men may be too advanced and can be seen as offensive for women. But it all depends on how men use it. Some men’s goal is just to gain confidence and how to deal with women in dating. Pickup is not just for playing around, it can also be for men who seek a serious relationship.

The Experts of The Pickup Artist Community

The pickup artist community is now very popular. Thanks to that reality show from VH1. The community is such a great help for men who never imagined themselves in the dating scene. It has given hope to men and encouraged them to start developing their dating skills.

The community has dating experts and pickup artists who help other men to get out and start improving themselves. One of the top gurus is David DeAngelo. The Cocky and Funny technique originated from him. His e-book, Double Your Dating has also received a lot of good reviews.

The Pickup Artist, Mystery, has popularized the mystery method which is widely used in dating today. Though many says that it is already an over used technique and that girls are more aware of it now. Peacocking is also a technique from Mystery wherein you wear an attention-grabbing outfit. If you do not know what it means, just look at how Mystery dresses himself.

Neil Strauss is an American author but he has been popular in the pickup artist community as well. He wrote the book, 'The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists'. He signed in to one of Mystery's bootcamps and that is how he penetrated the pickup artist society. He was also named as the "No. 1 Pickup Artist" after his book hit the market. A big question about Neil Strauss though is that why he refused the pickup challenge with Julian Foxx? He may have a thousand reasons but why pass it on to Mystery? Well, Neil Strauss rarely have live pickup videos.

Dubbed as the "fastest rising star" in the pickup community is Julian Foxx. He has a live video footage of him winning over Mystery in a pickup challenge. The video received different insights from people. Some say that it was a setup for Mystery, while others say that whether the video was real or not, fact is that anybody, and even Mystery, can also get rejected.

Surely there are other popular personalities in the dating and pickup community but the ones I have mentioned are the experts that men should watch out for. Usually, these dating experts give a free newsletter where you can get a sample of their works.

Most of these gurus were not born experts in dating. Some of them, or maybe most, were also once a shy type of person who doesn't know how to approach women. But they dared to join the dating or pickup community and became who they are now. Men who are afraid to go out and try developing some dating skills are missing a lot in their life.

Knowing David DeAngelo

Eben W. Pagan a.k.a. David DeAngelo, is very popular in the dating and pickup community. Not as a pickup artist like Mystery or Julian Foxx but as a dating expert. He was a student of Ross Jeffries and was known as Sisonpyh but he separated and developed his own methods and beliefs. He authored the Double Your Dating ebook which is a series of dating tutorials and was also the sole product of DeAngelo’s enterprise, “Double Your Dating.” Though he also released other products about dating like Advanced Dating series and Deep Inner Game.

Some of the dating terms that were popularized by David DeAngelo are:

* The Inner Wuss: a character trait of men developed through time that causes them to become submissive around women in order to get their approval. Pagan claims that women prefer men who are of higher status than they.
* Cocky and funny: also known as ‘cocky comedy’ can be called flirting, this refers to combination of arrogance and humor. A humorous mock arrogance intended to communicate with intelligence and being ‘a challenge’. Pagan points out that it is important to get the balance right, as just using ‘cocky’ “comes across as insecure, and comedy alone usually comes across as goofy and dumb.” “Cocky and Funny” is often abbreviated as “C&F.”
* Counterintuitive behavior: Pagan’s description of some of his techniques to attract women, as they are the opposite of what most people think is attractive. Examples of such behavior include teasing a woman offhandedly and refusing to compliment her appearance. Can also be phrased as Don’t behave in a boring or predictable way.
* Life changes: Pagan reiterates that the purpose of his programs is to effect a complete personality and lifestyle change among men that will help them achieve dating success.
* Emulate the Successful: Pagan encourages the following and emulation of those successful with women. He records interviews with those very successful in dating and releases them monthly as part of a subscription service.
* Sexual Communication: Pagan’s principle of a ’secret mating language’ or ’secret mating dance’ that takes place between a man and a woman before they can mate.
* Reframing: Restructuring one’s own beliefs set into a new one, such as changing self-doubt to positive thinking.
